The message notes, in part, that the National Library of Russia currently ranks among the largest libraries in the world. It holds unique book and manuscript collections, the library of French philosopher and author Voltaire and other material of great value which attracts researchers from many countries. Moreover, the library is actively bringing in cutting-edge information technology to its system.
The National Library of Russia remains to this day the original centre of cultural, academic and scientific life in St. Petersburg.
“You are making a weighty contribution to the preservation of national and global cultural heritage, to the development of science, education and academia, and to promoting the value of arts and culture,” the Prime Minister told the library’s employees.
