The participants discussed tools to promote innovation in regional economies and to evaluate regions’ performance in this field.
Speakers noted that the development of innovative clusters, engineering centres, experimental production lines and testing grounds will be one of the main focuses of state support for regional innovation projects. They emphasised that R&D and branch institutes in the regions have already begun forming integrated engineering centres for big and small companies.
The meeting was attended by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Moscow Region Acting Governor Andrei Vorobyov, Kaluga Region Governor Anatoly Artamonov, Krasnoyarsk Territory Governor Lev Kuznetsov, Samara Region Governor Nikolai Merkushkin, and Executive Director of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia Ivan Bortnik.
