On October 21-23, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev will pay an official visit to the People’s Republic of China at the invitation of the Premier of the PRC State Council, Li Keqiang.
The 18th regular meeting of Russian and Chinese Heads of Government, scheduled to be held on October 22 in Beijing, will be the main event of Mr Medvedev’s trip.
During the visit, Dmitry Medvedev will also meet with other PRC leaders. On the final day of the visit, Mr Medvedev will visit the city of Hefei, a national science and innovation centre in the province of Anhui, where he will meet with professors and students at the University of Science and Technology of China.
The upcoming talks will deal with a wide range of bilateral trade and economic and cultural cooperation issues. The discussions will focus on such important objectives of bilateral cooperation as expanding the volume of trade and improving the process, expanding inter-state investment cooperation, implementing large-scale energy projects and strengthening industrial-production cooperation.
As for the cultural sphere, both Prime Ministers will sum up the results of the 2012-2013 Russia-China and China-Russia Tourism Years, and they will assess preparations for the 2014-2015 Years of Youth Exchange in Russia and China. Mr Medvedev and Mr Keqiang will also discuss a number of other issues.
After the meeting of the Russian and Chinese Heads of Government, there are plans to sign a number of bilateral inter-departmental and corporate documents aiming to further practical Russian-Chinese cooperation in various areas.
