The meeting, held on October 9 in Kazan, was also attended by Viktor Khristenko, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), and government officials from Kazakhstan and Belarus. Following the meeting, Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov told journalists that on October 24, Minsk would host a meeting of the Supreme Economic Council, during which the presidents of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan would be presented documents related to the draft agreement on the Eurasian Economic Union. Mr Shuvalov also said that the three ministries of foreign affairs had prepared the main part of the agreement, which describes the bodies that will form the Eurasian Economic Union. According to Mr Shuvalov, Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan have agreed upon technical specifications for dairy and meat products. “These are the two regulations which are now being discussed by our countries; they concern the safety of milk and dairy products and meat and meat products,” Mr Shuvalov said. “These documents sparked much controversy, but participants in the meeting managed to reach a consensus, and these regulations will come into force in the middle of the next year.”
