Transcript of the beginning of the meeting:
Dmitry Medvedev: Mr Satybaldiyev, first, let me congratulate you on being entrusted with this very difficult work, at which I hope you will excel. I wish you all of the best. I wish you every success in implementing the plans for the recovery of the Kyrgyz economy and in conducting a harmonious social policy.
We have a big agenda today. Our mutual understanding is very good because we have managed to overcome certain problems that emerged in the past. I will be straight with you. These problems were a burden for our cooperation, but we have left them behind us. I’m referring, among other things, to the recently signed agreements on the Russian military base and the debt settlement. Please accept my congratulations and wishes of success once again.
Zhontoro Satybaldiyev: Thank you, Mr Medvedev. I have received your greetings by fax and email. Thank you for closely following the political events in Kyrgyzstan and for meeting our delegates despite your busy schedule. I can assure you that Kyrgyzstan – the Kyrgyz government – will consistently work to promote the success that has been achieved since Mr Putin’s latest visit.
As you’ve said, we have eradicated all of the problems that existed. We have a solid foundation for further development. I can assure you that our government will do everything, so that the start that we’ve made today in early autumn… I think that we should continue in the same vein. I’d like to ask you to make sure that the signed agreements quickly pass all of the domestic procedures, so that we can start implementing our plans next year. We have major plans for power engineering, as you know, and other industries. We are linked by relations that took shape over centuries. I hope that negative issues are a thing of the past…
Dmitry Medvedev: I also hope so. Let’s get down to work. Thank you.
