The date for the 8th summit of heads of state and government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum member countries has been determined. The summit will take place in Moscow on October 27, 2026. An organising committee chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak has been set up to ensure coordination among federal executive authorities, executive bodies of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, local self-government bodies, and organisations involved in preparing and holding the summit, and to address related tasks.
“Russia attaches great importance to partnerships within the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, coordination of efforts to promote the legitimate interests of gas exporters in global energy markets, countering unilateral economic restrictions, and enhancing the role of natural gas in global energy markets due to its availability, reliability, versatility, and environmental friendliness. The GECF summit in Moscow will provide an opportunity to discuss recent changes, outline prospects for cooperation, and identify new growth areas,” Alexander Novak said.
The summit’s main objectives will include promoting the use of natural gas in the global economy, analysing the current state and forecasting the development of gas markets, exchanging experience, and fostering technological cooperation among member countries.
“The 8th GECF summit of heads of state and government in Moscow will serve as a platform for dialogue, enabling the development of new joint initiatives that will shape the future of global energy security. Hosting the summit will allow our country to offer balanced solutions to the world amid transforming energy markets, to strengthen trust between countries, and to ensure sustainable development of the gas sector for the benefit of the peoples of exporting countries,” Adviser to the President of Russia and Executive Secretary of the Organising Committee for preparing and holding of the summit Anton Kobyakov said.
