The participants reviewed a wide array of Eurasian integration issues.
Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk took part in a meeting of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission which focused on a wide range of Eurasian integration issues.
In particular, the participants approved the Commission’s report on the current state and prospects for the integrated information system of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU IIS). The report outlines the level of the member states’ readiness to implement common processes within the EAEU IIS. According to the Commission, 50 common processes have been put into operation. The Russian Federation is connected to 49 out of 50.
The EEC Council also approved the 2026–2030 EAEU Member States’ Joint Action Programme to Protect Consumers. The programme is designed to promote cooperation among the Union’s member states and facilitating the protection of the consumers’ rights and interests.
The Customs Union’s technical regulations On the Safety of Personal Protective Equipment have been amended with due account taken of the practice of applying technical regulations and provide for clarifying existing safety requirements for a number of personal protective equipment types, updating the classification of such equipment, and including new items in technical regulations.
The rules for determining the country of origin of certain types of goods for the purposes of state (municipal) procurement have been amended as well. New requirements for 28 goods classify them as items of Eurasian origin, thereby granting them access to state (municipal) procurement.
The Commission Council approved the 2026–2030 Programme for Promoting the EAEU Statistics Integration. The purpose of the programme is to improve the algorithms for systematising statistical data that is necessary for analysing the functioning of the EAEU single market.
An exchange of views took place on a draft statement on the responsible development of artificial intelligence in the EAEU. The Russian side emphasised its focus on developing trusted national AI technologies and expanding its own AI competencies within the EAEU.
The EEC Council approved a draft set of amendments to the regulation on the selection of joint cooperative projects in industrial sectors and the provision of financial support for their implementation by the EAEU Member States. A total of 43 amendments have been agreed upon, aimed at improving the mechanism for selecting cooperative projects eligible for financial support.
The EAEU technical regulations On the Safety of Paint and Varnish Materials were approved. The regulation establishes safety requirements for paint and varnish materials placed on the EAEU market, as well as the rules for assessing conformity.
The participants approved the draft agenda for a Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting in Shymkent, Republic of Kazakhstan, on March 26–27.
