Alexei Overchuk meets with Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev
During a Russian government delegation’s visit to Baku, co-chairs of the Russian-Azerbaijani Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation held a meeting. Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev discussed the entire scope of topical issues pertaining to the practical cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan. They particularly focused on strengthening trade, economic, industrial, energy, transport, logistics, and agroindustrial cooperation.
The parties noted, with satisfaction, that the bilateral trade is consistently growing, and highlighted the broad opportunities for mid-term and long-term joint investment projects.
The co-chairs spoke about measures to increase the cargo traffic between Russia and Azerbaijan using motor transport, railway, and maritime transport. They stressed the effectiveness of checkpoints at the Russia-Azerbaijan state border, noting that their further modernisation would be beneficial.
They specifically addressed further development of the North – South international transport corridor and discussed increasing its capacity and improving transport and logistics infrastructure.
Alexei Overchuk and Shahin Mustafayev agreed to hold a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in April, in Azerbaijan.
The meeting participants enjoyed a constructive and friendly atmosphere that is characteristic of the Russia-Azerbaijan collaboration.
