Vitaly Savelyev held talks with Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran
Vitaly Savelyev, Deputy Prime Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Development of the North-South International Transport Corridor, visited the Islamic Republic of Iran, where he held talks with Ali Larijani, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The substantial Russian delegation and their Iranian counterparts discussed a wide range of issues related to economic cooperation between the two countries. The focus was on cooperation in transport and the development of the North-South International Transport Corridor, one of the key areas of the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Vitaly Savelyev noted the steady growth of rail container transit from Russia through Iran, as well as the successful operation of the regular container service launched in 2022 along the eastern route of the North-South International Transport Corridor.
The parties also held detailed discussions on the implementation of the intergovernmental agreement signed in 2023 on the financing and construction of the Rasht–Astara railway in Iran.
Vitaly Savelyev also invited the Iranian delegation to take part in the International Transport and Logistics Forum, scheduled to take place in St Petersburg in 2026.
