Alexei Overchuk meets with Mongolia’s First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy and Development Jadamba Enkhbayar
Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk had a meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy and Development of Mongolia Jadamba Enkhbayar in Irkutsk on the sidelines of the First Forum of Russian and Mongolian Regions. The two deputy prime ministers discussed the development of Russian-Mongolian trade and economic cooperation. Officials from the corresponding agencies, heads of Russian and Mongolian regions and Andrei Slepnyov, member of the Board (Minister) for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, also attended the talks.
Alexei Overchuk congratulated Jadamba Enkhbayar on his recent appointment and expressed hope that the governments of Russia and Mongolia would continue working together to strengthen trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian ties in the spirit of strategic partnership and as instructed by both countries’ heads of state and government.
They focused on implementing the June 2025 Interim Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Mongolia, including stepping up cooperation in customs regulation, sanitary, veterinary and phyto-sanitary oversight, technical regulation and standardisation.
Alexei Overchuk and Jadamba Enkhbayar agreed that the governments of Russia and Mongolia would jointly review all matters dealing with non-tariff regulation for improving mutual access of producers to the markets of EAEU member states and Mongolia, completely unlocking the potential for mutual trade and improving the trade balance between both countries.
During the meeting, Russia was praised for its positive role in guaranteeing Mongolia’s energy security by ensuring uninterrupted supplies of petrochemical products to Mongolia.
The agenda also covered prospects for carrying out joint projects in energy and transport infrastructure. In this context, the two sides exchanged opinions on the opportunities for working with Eurasian development institutions.
Alexei Overchuk and Jadamba Enkhbayar paid special attention to strengthening regional connectivity, primarily within the framework of the Russia – Mongolia – China economic corridor, as well as upgrading the infrastructure at checkpoints along the Russian-Mongolian border. They heard reports by the heads of Russian and Mongolian regions. Having exchanged their views, the two sides agreed to continue coordinating their work in this sphere.
