Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin paid a working visit to the Sultanate of Oman. He had talks with Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs Asaad bin Tariq Al Said and Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion Qais Mohammed Al Yousef. He also attended the Russia-Oman Business Forum.
During the talks, the Deputy Prime Minister underscored that the Russian-Omani dialogue proceeded at a high rate and was very substantive, which is facilitated by trust-based and close contacts between President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.
“Our trade and economic ties have positive dynamics. Our trade has almost doubled compared to the 2021 level. The promising areas of our bilateral cooperation include the increasing supplies of halal foods and exchange of experience in the housing construction. We are expecting a close interaction. I believe it has a vast potential,” said Marat Khusnullin.
The parties also outlined the main areas of interaction between their states in transport logistics, energy and tourism.
In addition, at the Russia-Oman Business Forum organised by the Roscongress Foundation, the Deputy Prime Minister addressed the plenary session, Russia — Oman: A Look into the Future.
“This year we marked the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and the Sultanate of Oman. Years later we can see that our relations, based on mutual respect, common interests and commitment to the principles of a multipolar world encompass a wide range of areas and show a high development rate. We see the bilateral tourism growing. No doubt that we appreciate Oman’s participation in the international economic forum Russia — Islamic World: KazanForum. There is a lot of potential in increasing trade, developing transit traffic along the Internatinoal North-South Transport Corridor, and jointly implementing large-scale infrastructure, industrial, and housing projects. Experience in upgrading and developing the housing and utilities sector will also be useful. Concerted efforts will enable us to create new points of growth for the economies of both countries,” said Marat Khusnullin.
