Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak had a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran Kazem Jalali.
The parties discussed bilateral cooperation in various fields, including the energy sector.
“Russian-Iranian energy cooperation is of a strategic and multifaceted nature. We collaborate at international organisations, such as OPEC, GECF, SCO, and BRICS, as well as bilaterally,” Deputy Prime Minister Novak said.
It was also noted that the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership signed in early 2025 by President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian had come into force in October of this year. It was for the first time ever that the document officially sealed the special status of Russian-Iranian ties. It has also outlined priorities in Russian-Iranian cooperation for the next 20 years.
“Relations between our countries are long-term and set to develop regardless of any political situation,” Alexander Novak stressed.
