Tatyana Golikova meets with students from the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing
Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova had a meeting with students from the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing. Over 50 Russian students pursue their degree programmes at this institution, and there are also about 40 Chinese students there who are studying the Russian language.
“Russia and China have been paying a lot of attention to promoting ties between their respective universities, as well as stepping up academic exchanges. So far, we have built a very positive track record. The number of Chinese students enrolled in Russian universities has almost doubled over the past five years. There were just over 30,000 students during the 2020/2021 academic years, but in 2024/2025 this figure exceeded 56,000. Today, over 21,000 Russian students are studying in China,” the Deputy Prime Minister pointed out.
Both Russia and China designated the upcoming two years as the Years of Education. Their respective leaders supported this initiative during their talks on 8 May 2025 as part of the visit by the President of China, Xi Jinping, to Moscow.
“This is an important and timely initiative, which will serve as an impetus for promoting bilateral cooperation in education,” Tatyana Golikova emphasised.
