Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk visited the Parish of Holy Royal Passion Bearers in Gyeongju, the Republic of Korea, now hosting the APEC Concluding Senior Officials Meeting. He was accompanied by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Korea Georgy Zinovyev and members of the Russian Embassy’s staff.
His Eminence Archbishop of Korea Theophanes, Head of the Korean Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church, and representatives of the local community welcomed the guests. His Eminence conducted a tour of the cathedral, sharing the history of the Orthodox community, which provides ecclesiastical guidance for Russian-speaking believers and Orthodox Koreans, and its current life. Special attention was devoted to the efforts of the Korean Diocese to preserve spiritual and cultural ties with Russia.
