Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev and Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates of the Kingdom of Morocco Nasser Bourita co-chaired the eighth meeting of the Intergovernmental Mixed Russian-Moroccan Commission on Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation.
“Morocco has traditionally been one of Russia’s leading partners in Africa. Despite the current geopolitical situation, dialogue between our countries continues to develop and grow stronger in keeping with the 2016 Declaration on Expanded Strategic Partnership. Over the first six months of 2025, bilateral trade has increased by nearly 30 percent year on year. At the same time, there is great potential for further strengthening our economic cooperation,” Dmitry Patrushev stated.
The chair of the Russian part of the mixed commission noted that Morocco has traditionally been one of Russia’s leading trade partners in Africa. Bilateral trade is growing, and Russia is interested in increasing its industrial, agricultural, transport, energy and mineral resources exports to Morocco.
The sides discussed practical methods to promote bilateral energy cooperation, one of the main spheres of Russian-Moroccan collaboration. They exchanged views on the development of relevant infrastructure and also talked about the use of renewable energy.
The agenda of the meeting of the mixed commission also included interaction in transport, or more precisely, the organisation of logistics services between the two countries.
The meeting participants emphasised the successful development of direct partnership between Russian and Moroccan universities. Over 4,000 Moroccans studied at Russian universities in the 2024/2025 academic year. The Deputy Prime Minister added that Russia was prepared to expand cooperation in the fields of general, secondary vocational and additional education.
Following the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev and Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates of the Kingdom of Morocco Nasser Bourita signed the final protocol of the eighth meeting of the Intergovernmental Mixed Russian-Moroccan Commission on Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation.
“We believe that the results of our meeting today will give an additional impetus to the implementation if joint projects and the development of trade and economic cooperation between our countries,” Dmitry Patrushev stated.
The Intergovernmental Mixed Russian-Moroccan
