On the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week International Forum, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak held a working meeting with Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Türkiye Alparslan Bayraktar.
The parties acknowledged fruitful collaboration across a number of key areas, including trade and economic relations, financial and banking sectors, information and communication technologies, and energy. Over the past five years, bilateral trade has grown by 130%. Notably, a substantial proportion of settlements under foreign trade contracts is conducted in national currencies.
Energy collaboration constitutes a cornerstone of the bilateral relations.
Russia remains the principal supplier of natural gas to Türkiye and has consistently fulfilled its contractual obligations with unwavering reliability.
Work continues to proceed on Türkiye’s flagship nuclear energy project – the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant. The technical launch of the plant’s first unit is scheduled for 2026.
“I am confident that Russian-Turkish energy cooperation will continue to serve as a key driver of stability and prosperity for our nations and the wider region,” emphasised Alexander Novak.
