Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak had a working meeting with Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum Mohamed Hamel at the Russian Energy Week forum.
“Russia attaches great importance to strengthening partnerships within the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, coordinating efforts to promote legitimate interests of gas exporters on global energy markets and countering unilateral economic restrictions, as well as enhancing the role of natural gas on global energy markets with its availability, reliability, versatility, and low environmental impact,” Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised Russia’s interest in further expanding the GECF’s potential, including through active scientific, analytical, and technological cooperation among member states. He also highlighted the Forum Secretariat’s efforts to develop partnerships with African countries and major international organisations, such as the G20, BRICS, and APEC.
Alexander Novak expressed gratitude for the support extended to Russia in discussing the host country for the 8th GECF Summit in 2026.
