Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak had a working meeting with OPEC Secretary General Haitham al Ghais on the sidelines of Russian Energy Week.
“We highly value our long-standing and productive cooperation with the OPEC Secretariat which serves as an important coordinating link in facilitating interaction between oil-producing countries. Our cooperation has proven to be an effective tool to stabilise markets, overcome external shocks, and ensure supply security,” Alexander Novak said.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that Russia attaches great importance to cooperation with its OPEC+ partners and stressed that this format plays a key role in ensuring global energy security and stability in the oil market. According to Alexander Novak, the voluntary production adjustment commitments made by OPEC+ countries have had a positive impact on balancing the market and maintaining prices at a sustainable level for producers amid ongoing geopolitical challenges.
Mr Novak emphasised that Russia remained consistent in its actions, traditionally focusing on maintaining global energy security for the sake of peaceful development of nations and constructive cooperation based on mutual respect. Russia intends to continue improving and strengthening the OPEC+ framework in the interests of the global economy, consumers, and oil producers.
