Marat Khusnullin and Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda co-chaired a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan
The 21st plenary meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan was held in Moscow, co-chaired by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin and Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda.
Opening the meeting, Marat Khusnullin thanked his colleagues for their active engagement on multilateral international platforms, particularly the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, and the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, noting that strengthening these ties was an absolute priority for Russia.
“Russia and Tajikistan are strengthening their strategic partnership and alliance. Our cooperation is steadily advancing across many areas, as corroborated by the frequent contacts between our leaders, Vladimir Putin and Emomali Rahmon. Cooperation in business, small and medium-sized entrepreneurship, culture, education, sports, and tourism is on the rise. Food imports and exports are growing, as well as trade in general. A roadmap for cooperation in the transport sector for 2025–2030 has been drafted. We are actively working with our colleagues across all areas at the intergovernmental commission. I would like to thank Kokhir Rasulzoda and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for their engagement on all issues. We intend to further strengthen our cooperation and share positive experiences,” Marat Khusnullin said.
In turn, Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda expressed gratitude to Marat Khusnullin and the Russian Government for their consistent attention to the development of Russian-Tajik cooperation and their prompt responses to emerging issues.
“President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has repeatedly stressed that the comprehensive development of relations with the Russian Federation is a key and strategically important priority of the republic’s foreign policy. At this meeting, we discussed in detail the parameters of our further work within the intergovernmental commission. Let me note that all agreements signed at the previous meeting are already yielding tangible results. Thanks to the efforts of both sides, indicators in various sectors are improving. There are also excellent prospects in the agro-industrial complex, energy, investment, and other areas. I emphasise the Government of Tajikistan’s strong commitment to further strengthening mutually beneficial strategic cooperation with the Russian Federation. We highly value our friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Russia and look forward to continuing our productive work in all key areas. I would like to thank all commission members for their dedicated efforts,” Kokhir Rasulzoda noted.
During the meeting, several agreements were signed, including a protocol on joint activities within the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan, and an action plan for the implementation of the economic cooperation programme between the two governments for 2025–2027.
