Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev paid a working visit to the Republic of India and met with top managers of key agencies in accordance with the business programme.
His meeting with Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of India Piyush Goyal focused on bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The sides also discussed the work of both countries’ oversight agencies, cooperation in the fisheries sector, and the possibility of opening up the Indian market to Russian meat and dairy produce. The Deputy Prime Minister also noted the importance of more actively concluding a mutually beneficial free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and India.
Dmitry Patrushev and Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Jagat Prakash Nadda discussed cooperation in the sphere of mineral fertiliser shipments. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that our country was interested in strengthening strategic partnership with India still further and continuing mutually beneficial cooperation.
Dmitry Patrushev met with Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shivraj Singh Chauhan of the Republic of India and discussed possible increases in the volume of agricultural produce deliveries and their assortment. For example, Russia sees an impressive potential in exporting more of its vegetable oils, leguminous crops, and other products.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, agricultural trade between Russia and India soared by 60 percent in 2024.
Dmitry Patrushev also noted
that Russia appreciated the potential of bilateral research and technological
cooperation, including that in the sphere of selection. The participants
discussed possible direct contacts between Russian and Indian research centres
and ways of organising advanced training programmes for specialists.
