The Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Co-Chairman of the Mixed Intergovernmental Russian-Algerian Commission for Trade and Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation held a working meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Toufik Djouama. The meeting focused on the development of the two countries’ trade and economic cooperation potential.
“Algeria is traditionally one of Russia’s leading partners on the African continent. Our countries’ positions on most issues on the international and regional agendas are close or coincide. We intend to preserve our close foreign policy coordination and reaffirm our wish to continue the active dialogue in all areas of our interaction,” said Dmitry Patrushev.
In particular, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that Russia was prepared to increase mutual supplies of agricultural products and was interested in raising the export of mineral fertilisers to Algeria.
The Mixed Intergovernmental Russian-Algerian Commission for Trade and Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation has been operating since 2013. Dmitry Patrushev has been Chairman of the Russian part of the commission since February 5, 2020. The Algerian part has been headed by Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries Youssef Cherfa since November 2024. The 12th meeting was held in Algeria on 30 January 2025.
