Alexei Overchuk and Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan
On 20 August, the Russian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk undertook a working visit to the Republic of Armenia.
In Yerevan, Alexei Overchuk was received by Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan. The two officials discussed pressing matters of collaboration between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia, both bilaterally and within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. The parties reviewed the progress of joint programmes and exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest to Russia and Armenia.
Continuing the visit, Alexei Overchuk jointly held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan, in their capacity as co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia. Representatives from relevant agencies, ministries, and departments of both countries participated in the discussions.
The parties reviewed a report on the implementation of decisions adopted during the 23rd session of the Commission, held in December 2024, as well as practical aspects of preparations for the forthcoming session, scheduled for the end of the current year.
Co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation paids special attention to matters pertaining to the supply of specific categories of goods, particularly imports into the Republic of Armenia from third countries. The co-chairs reached a mutual understanding on the application of non-tariff protective measures within the common market of the Eurasian Economic Union.
A substantive exchange of views took place regarding prospects for deepening Russian-Armenian cultural ties and implementing joint projects in secondary and higher education.
During discussions on transport communications in the South Caucasus, the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission underscored the importance of unblocking regional transport links in full compliance with the principles of respect for territorial integrity, sovereignty, jurisdiction, and reciprocity among nations.
The parties agreed to continue working on all areas of collaboration ahead of the 24th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Armenia.
