Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev met with the leader of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova Igor Dodon, the leader of the Heart of Moldova Republican Party Irina Vlah and the leader of The Future of Moldova Party Vasile Tarlev. They discussed the two countries’ cooperation in the agro-industrial complex.
“The Russian Federation and the Republic of Moldova are tied by centuries-long relations that have endured several historical epochs. Our bilateral ties have been strengthened thanks to the community of our cultures – common moral values and spiritual bonds and belonging to the Orthodox world. Today, relations between our countries are going through a difficult period. Still, despite the circumstances, we do our best to establish direct channels of communication. Russia strives to preserve and develop dialogue with all constructive forces of Moldova favouring stronger Moldavian statehood, sovereignty, and neutral status. Russia is ready for a dialogue, including for the resumption of the work of the intergovernmental commission,” said Dmitry Patrushev.
The Deputy Premier said that mutual trade in agriculture, which is a key sector of cooperation between the two countries, shrank by another 20 percent last year. And supplies to Russia reduced almost by a third.
Dmitry Patrushev reaffirmed that Russia is ready to develop cooperation, including trade in agricultural products and deliveries of mineral fertilizers.
