Alexei Overchuk meets with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation of Malaysia Fadillah Yusof
Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk had a working meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation of Malaysia Fadillah Yusof.
During the conversation, the ministers underlined their commitment on unlocking the full potential of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, including in industry, energy, transport infrastructure development, agribusiness and digital economy.
The parties favourably assessed the pace of the mutual trade. According to the Russian Federal Customs Service, in the first quarter of 2025, trade between Russia and Malaysia increased by almost 63 percent over the same period in 2024.
The parties noted that humanitarian cooperation holds an important place in bilateral relations. Universities of Russia and Malaysia implement their cooperation agreements. The countries are interested in developing tourism. Malaysia is on the list of the countries, whose citizens are eligible for single electronic visas for business and tourist trips and participation in scientific, cultural and sports activities.
During the talks the parties also emphasized the importance of holding joint cultural and art events.
