Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Novak met with First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.
“We regard Kazakhstan as our closest ally and strategic partner,” Alexander Novak noted. “Our cooperation in trade, economic and investment areas has been successful. We are implementing major joint projects in industry, energy, transport infrastructure, agriculture and digital economy. Russia remains the biggest investor in Kazakhstan’s economy; the investment grew by 25 percent in 2024 compared to 2023.
He highly appreciated Russia’s and Kazakhstan’s interaction within the OPEC+ agreement crucial to the stability and predictability of the world oil market. The Deputy Prime Minister has called on continuing coordination of joint actions under the OPEC+, because they meet long-term national interests and promote strengthening the economies of the countries-parties to the deal.
The officials have discussed expanding Russian-Kazakhstani cooperation in the electric power and oil and gas sectors, as well as the terms of Russian oil and gas supplies to Kazakhstan and transit through its territory.
Alexander Novak has invited Roman Sklyar and the Kazakhstan delegation to take part in the annual international forum Russian Energy Week, which will be held in Moscow on October 15 to 17.
