Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak held a meeting with Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye Alparslan Bayraktar at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The two officials discussed cooperation in the oil, natural gas, coal, power supply and nuclear sectors. They talked about establishing a gas hub, terms and conditions for supplying Russian energy resources to the Turkish market, as well as the construction of the Akkuyu nuclear power station.
“Guided by a genuine strategic vision, energy cooperation between Russia and Türkiye largely results from Türkiye’s principled sovereign policy under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Working together in the energy sector has taken special importance considering the turbulent situation in this region and around the world in general. Manufacturing is a key driver for Türkiye’s economy, and this sector needs stable energy supplies and power generation capabilities in order to develop. Russia has always been and remains a reliable supplier of gas, oil and other natural resources to the Turkish market,” Alexander Novak said.
The Deputy Prime Minister went on to invite Alparslan Bayraktar and the Turkish delegation to attend the Russian Energy Week, an annual forum, which is scheduled to take place in Moscow on 15−17 October.
