The meeting was held as part of the Presidential Aide’s visit to Russia.
Mikhail Mishustin: Good afternoon, Ms Mirziyoyeva.
Mikhail Mishustin with Aide to the President of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva
Welcome to the House of Government of the Russian Federation, we are delighted to see you.
First of all, I would like to use this opportunity to pass on best regards to President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev from President of Russia Vladimir Putin and from me personally.
On May 9, President Mirziyoyev attended the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of our common Victory in the Great Patriotic War in Moscow. A parade formation of the Uzbekistani Armed Forces marched on Red Square, as we all saw.
During my visit to Uzbekistan last September, we visited the Victory Park memorial complex in Tashkent, which was truly impressive for me and all other members of the delegation. This memorial has large educational value: it reminds young people of Uzbekistan about the heroic deeds the victor generation – their grandfathers and grandmothers – committed, as well as the enormous price our nations paid for the Great Victory.
Uzbekistan is a very important and reliable ally of Russia. We sincerely value our good-neighbourly, fraternal relations. At the government level, my counterpart Abdulla Aripov and I ensure coordinated work to implement strategic agreements reached by our leaders. We pay special attention to trade and economic cooperation, strengthening humanitarian and cultural ties.
Today, on 29 May, a gala concert will take place in Tashkent to mark the opening of the Days of the Russian Culture in Uzbekistan. Russian Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova will attend. I expect that she will tell me everything about it. I believe that the people of Uzbekistan will highly enjoy show put by Russian performers. We would like to thank the Uzbekistani leadership for their careful and sensitive attitude towards the Russian language. Uzbekistan boasts the largest network of Russian universities’ branches outside Russia.
Ms Mirziyoyeva, we are ready to discuss all items on the bilateral agenda.
Saida Mirziyoyeva: Mr Mishustin, I am very pleased to meet with you again, this time here in Moscow. Thank you for taking the time to receive us, though you have a full schedule. We appreciate that, despite this, you made room to meet with the Uzbek delegation.
Moscow is a city we hold in great affection. It is always a pleasure for us to visit. Recently, our President took part in the Victory Day celebrations. Allow me to congratulate you on the success of this important event. The presence of 30 world leaders in Moscow is truly remarkable and speaks volumes.
As for our relations, they are on the rise today thanks to our leaders and their personal contacts. Both of them monitor all key areas of cooperation. We also appreciate the active role your Government plays in strengthening these ties. I follow these developments closely and can confidently say that we share many common interests and are achieving impressive results together.
Yesterday, we opened an exhibition at the New Jerusalem museum. I believe it will be popular. It can serve as another cultural bridge between our countries and peoples, which is especially meaningful given our shared history. I am convinced that such events should take place even more frequently. In this context, the ongoing Days of Russian Culture in Uzbekistan are also very significant.
