Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk took part in a meeting of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Petkevich.
The sides considered a broad range of issues on the Board’s agenda, including EAEU regulatory framework development and the EAEU’s interaction with third countries.
A decision was approved to continue Russia and Belarus’ navigation seal experiment until 1 July 2026. The experiment concerns timber and woodworking products placed under the export customs procedure in Belarus and leaving the territory of Russia. The use of navigation seals will make it possible to improve the logistical arrangements and simplify and speed up cargo delivery to recipients.
Participants in the meeting approved the report on The Expediency of Approximating Performance Qualification Requirements for Most In-Demand Jobs on the EAEU Labour Market and the Procedure for Confirming Professional Qualifications. The draft report compares national qualification systems in the EAEU member states as well as the key levels of professional training and professional qualification requirements for embarking on a working career.
They also approved the EEC’s report to the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on the implementation of priority measures to digitalise freight rail transportation towards developing trade and economic cooperation between the EAEU and the People’s Republic of China. The measures imply a transition to a comprehensive paperless freight carriage networking method, including a legally binding electronic carriage document flow in international traffic.
Amendments were introduced to the EAEU technical regulation On Safety of Combustible Natural Gas Prepared for Transportation and/or Use, aimed at obviating excessive barriers to business and settling problems arising during the natural gas compliance assessment procedure.
They also approved an annual draft report On Implementing the Main International Activity Guidelines of the Eurasian Economic Union for 2024 to be submitted to the next meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. The report contains an analysis of the EAEU’s interaction with international organisations, regional integration and interstate associations, and third countries.
The participants also approved draft economic cooperation guidelines in EAEU sports to be submitted to the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. The document formulates the goals and planned economic effects from economic cooperation in EAEU sports, as well as the focus areas in this cooperation and relevant events.
The sides also approved a report to the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council entitled On Implementing the Approaches to Mid-Term Cooperation with the EAEU’s Main Partners for 2024, and the EEC’s report on implementing the Strategic Guidelines for the Development of Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025.
