The First International Online Fair of Russian Brands in Moscow. Dmitry Chernyshenko welcomes the participants of the Made in Russia festival and fair
On 17 May, Moscow’s Zaryadye Park hosted the launch of the First International Online Fair of Russian Brands. Simultaneously, the Made in Russia festival and fair officially opened in Harbin, China, where it will run until 21 May. The two events were linked by a joint live broadcast.
The initiative is part of the national programme to promote Russian products under the Made in Russia brand, approved earlier this year by directive of President Vladimir Putin.
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko visited the Moscow exhibition and greeted participants of the festival and fair. He highlighted the historical ties between the peoples of Russia and China and stressed the importance of supporting such initiatives to deepen bilateral relations.
“This event brings together two wonderful cities – Moscow and Harbin. More importantly, it strengthens the bond between two great peoples who, throughout a long history, have stood side by side in friendship and cooperation. This remarkable event, supported for several years now by the Russian Export Centre, connects our nations. The significance of the Made in Russia festival and fair was emphasised by President Vladimir Putin and President Xi Jinping during their recent meeting at the Kremlin on 8 May, which underscored both countries’ commitment to further developing bilateral ties. The previous edition of the festival was also a great success, thanks in large part to President Putin’s personal visit to the exhibition in Harbin,” Dmitry Chernyshenko said.
The Deputy Prime Minister wished participants success, fruitful new partnerships, and expressed hope for continued Russian-Chinese cooperation within the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission for Regular Meetings between Heads of Government.
During the ceremony, Dmitry Chernyshenko also presented a letter of recognition to blogger Yang Runxin for her contribution to strengthening Russian-Chinese trade and economic relations, particularly in promoting the Made in Russia national brand in China.
Over 60 producers from various Russian regions took part in the Moscow online fair. Dmitry Chernyshenko toured the exhibition, thanked the participants for their role in fostering international relations, and noted the value of their reputations and audiences in achieving this important goal.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Russian Federation Zhang Hanhui expressed his gratitude to the organisers for their consistent support and for hosting the fair, which continues to create opportunities for businesses and attract new participants. He noted that President Xi Jinping had recently completed a successful visit to Russia – his 11th – during which both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening bilateral ties, a testament to the strong relationship between the leaders of the two countries.
As part of the event, live broadcasts were held on international e-commerce platforms, showcasing over 100 Russian-made products to Chinese consumers. These included chocolate, waffles, seafood, grains, honey, flour, jams, birch sap, chicory, pickles, and other food and beverages, as well as cosmetics, household goods, and children’s toys.
“The fairs in Moscow and Harbin provide Chinese consumers with the opportunity to discover a broad selection of high-quality goods from Russia and explore new brands. For Russian companies, it is a chance not only to boost visibility in the B2C segment but also to build business partnerships with leading Chinese distributors. As a result of past festivals and fairs, Russian exporters have signed contracts worth over 4.5 billion roubles. To ensure a lasting presence in the market and support long-term growth, we are collaborating with Chinese partners to develop trade infrastructure for promoting products under the national brand. This includes opening permanent national displays and points of sale both offline and online. All of these efforts contribute to enhancing the visibility of Russia, its culture, and building trust and interest in Russian products,” Director General of the Russian Export Centre Veronika Nikishina said.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Nikolai Zhuravlev, Ambassador Zhang Hanhui, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Li Qingshuang, and blogger Yang Runxin. Joining via video link from Harbin were Liang Huiling, Governor of Heilongjiang Province, and Sergey Linnik, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Harbin.
The online fair of Russian goods in Moscow was organised by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian Export Centre (part of VEB.RF Group), the Roscongress Foundation, the Agency for Strategic Initiatives, and the Government of Moscow, with the support of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. The general partner of the fair is the Moscow Export Centre.
