On commissioning the Boguchanskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant
According to a presidential Instructions on launching the Boguchanskaya Hydroelectric Power Plant, the Government is pleased to report that as of today, four out of nine hydroelectric units (Nos. 1, 3, 4 and 5, with a total available capacity of 840 MW) have been put in operation and are currently producing 830 MW.
Hydroelectric unit #2 will go on stream on October 30, 2013.
Two more units, #6 and #7, are undergoing pre-operation testing.
The hydroelectric equipment has been assembled at unit #8; the mechanical and other equipment are being installed. The pre-testing is expected to begin on October 1, 2013.
The generator stator in unit #9 is being assembled. A no-load test of the turbine is planned to begin in December, 2013.
The 500kW step-up transformers of the first launch system at the Boguchanskaya HPP are inducing operating voltage.
Transformers in the second launch system will be activated before September 1, 2013.
Measures were taken and excavations were carried out around the flood hazard area of the Boguchanskaya HPP that was affected by floods between 2008 and 2012. The Ministry of Natural Resources reports that, as a result, the reservoir floor can be safely filled without restriction.
