The President of the Kyrgyz Republic received the Russian Deputy Prime Minister during his working visit to Kyrgyzstan.
A Russian delegation headed by Alexei Overchuk visited Bishkek in the Kyrgyz Republic. During the visit, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister was received by President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov. The officials focused on prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation and prioritised efforts to enhance transport connectivity, to eensure energy security, as well as cultural and humanitarian collaboration.
The meeting participants noted that the Russian Federation and the Kyrgyz Republic were strategic partners and allies, that both countries maintained traditionally friendly relations, based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and consideration for each other’s interests. Regular top-level contacts lay a solid foundation for expanded bilateral cooperation. Russia and Kyrgyzstan also maintain close intergovernmental collaboration.
Alexei Overchuk noted that both countries are members of the Eurasian Economic Union, which is an important factor in their cooperation. He added that Kyrgyzstan’s active involvement in EAEU activities had spurred national economic growth and helped unlock the Union’s potential. Moreover, the EAEU has every chance of strengthening its positions in the global economic system.
The Russian Deputy Prime Minister congratulated the President of the Kyrgyz Republic on successfully resolving the border dispute between the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan. He noted that the peace agreement between two allies of Russia was a significant factor of stability for the entire Central Asia.
