Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Karankevich.
“Russia remains Belarus' main trade partner. Over the last three years, Russia has steadily accounted for more than half of Belarusian foreign trade in goods. The Republic is Russia's main trading partner in the CIS and is fourth in the world. Belarus' share in the Russian foreign trade turnover is almost nine percent. According to the last year's results, trade between the two countries is likely to break the record again. In January-October, trade grew by 6.5 percent, while the turnover of economic products increased by 16.1 percent compared to the same period of 2023,” Alexander Novak said, opening the meeting.
The parties discussed efforts to deepen integration within the Union State, interaction in trade, economy and energy, progress in establishing a single oil and gas market, as well as projects in the electric power industry and peaceful nuclear energy sector.
