Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak paid a working visit to Iraq. In Baghdad, he held talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammed Shia Al-Sudani. Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev took part in the meeting as well.
The participants discussed the terms of crude oil production and supply to the global market, including as part of the OPEC+ deal. The parties emphasised the importance of maintaining stability, balance and fair pricing, and noted the leading role of the OPEC+ group in achieving these goals.
Alexander Novak reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to building mutually beneficial relations with Iraq based on common interests. In 2024, the countries will mark the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Alexander Novak and Muhammed Shia Al-Sudani discussed energy cooperation, peaceful atom, and investment, as well as cooperation in using artificial intelligence and digital tools, and expansion of cooperation in industry, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and transport.
