Dushanbe hosted the 20th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin and Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda.
“Russia and Tajikistan maintain highly intense bilateral contacts. Constructive cooperation has been established, and all issues are discussed promptly thanks to our direct contacts. Our economic ties are developing rapidly. Russia remains a key trading partner of Tajikistan. Over the first eight months of 2024, trade increased by 14 percent, with both imports and exports on the rise. Interregional cooperation is also expanding; currently, over 70 Russian regions have established business contacts with Tajikistan in a wide range of areas. I would like to thank my colleagues for their fruitful work. I am confident that our mutually beneficial cooperation will continue to develop in the future. We will do our utmost to achieve this,” Marat Khusnullin said.
The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the agreement reached on the construction of the Centre for Gifted Children in Dushanbe and a new building for the Mayakovsky Russian Drama Theatre was an important step in the development of Russian-Tajikistani relations. Today, design assignments and master plans have been signed, and a state registration certificate has been issued. It is planned to start construction this year.

Tajikistan remains committed to its strategic partnership and alliance with Russia and intends to take further steps to develop Russian-Tajikistani partnership, the Prime Minister of Tajikistan said.
