Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Viktor Karankevich on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week international forum.
The parties discussed trade and economic cooperation, terms of energy and fuel supply, the formulation of a single industrial policy for the Union State and the development of projects in import substitution.
Much attention was given to expanding nuclear power generating capacities in the Republic of Belarus with Rosatom’s participation, as well as the implementation of a new comprehensive programme of cooperation in nuclear non-energy projects, which includes initiatives in nuclear medicine, energy storage systems and additive technology.
“In December, the citizens of Russia and Belarus will celebrate a significant milestone in the history of the Union State – the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Union Treaty. Many important bilateral events will be held before the end of the year. The industrial sovereignty of the Union State is being gradually enhanced. We are discussing mutual access of industrial enterprises to the instruments of state financial support,” noted Alexander Novak.
