Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak met with Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov on the sidelines of the Russian Energy Week international forum. The parties discussed cooperation in the oil, gas, coal and electric power sectors, as well as joint implementation of projects in the field of renewable energy and nuclear technology.
The meeting participants also discussed the mutual integration of industrial projects and improvement of the investment climate, as well as cooperation opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises.
“Trade, economic, and investment ties between the two countries are developing dynamically, and comprehensive efforts to expand cooperation are underway. Last year, mutual trade increased by 11.5 percent, reaching 823 billion roubles. Exports amounted to 564 billion roubles, growing by 8.8 percent year-on-year, while imports totalled 258 billion roubles (up 17.9 percent). This year, the trend continues: over six months, trade increased by 8.7 percent, exports by 9 percent, and imports by 8.3 percent,” Alexander Novak noted.
