The opening ceremony of the 13th Forum of Universities of Engineering and Technology Profile of the Union State took place at Alekseyev Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University in Nizhny Novgorod.
This year, over 600 people attend the forum. Heads, teachers, and students of 30 Russian and 9 Belarusian universities will exchange experiences in developing engineering education in the context of economic transformation on the sidelines of the event.
Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko sent his greetings to the participants of the13th Forum of the Union State’s Universities of Engineering and Technology.
“Cooperation between our countries is a true alliance in its nature. More than 11,000 Belarusians study at Russian universities, and 2,600 of them with grants from the Russian Government. Our countries are working together to implement the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of the Union State until 2035, with one of its priorities being improvement of personnel training quality in order to develop high-tech areas in the economy of Russia and Belarus,” the address says.
The forum opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Olga Petrova. In her remarks, she noted that support for young scientists remained a promising cooperation vector within the Union State.
“Together, our countries are holding a number of events aimed at uncovering the scientific and creative potential of the Russian and Belarusian youth and actively engaging young scientists in the implementation of fundamental and applied scientific research in priority areas, including as part of the Union State programmes,” she emphasised.
The forum is held with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus and the Standing Committee of the Union State. The forum is aimed to promote the formation of a single educational and scientific-technological space of the Union State and the creation of an inter-university platform for cooperation in priority areas of the development of education, science, technology, and youth policy.
The 13th Forum of Universities of Engineering and Technology of the Union State will be held throughout 27 September. There will be five panels: Priority Areas of Scientific, Scientific-Technical and Innovative Activities of Union State Universities; Development of Engineering Education in the Union State; Youth Innovative Entrepreneurship; Engineering Career; and Youth Policy Vectors.
