Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko met with the finalists of the Bolshaya Peremena national contest’s international track. The meeting was held at the International Children’s Centre “Artek.”
It was attended by 25 high school students from different countries, including China, Tajikistan, Great Britain, the United States, Ethiopia, Armenia, Syria, Egypt, France, Iran, and Belarus, to name a few. The meeting was attended by Minister of Education Sergei Kravtsov, Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs Ksenia Razuvayeva, Director of Artek International Children’s Centre Konstantin Fedorenko, and others.
“We are glad to see among the participants of the programme not only many young people from our country, but also almost 200 young people from 30 other countries,” Deputy Prime Minister said speaking before the participants. “I would like to see you go back home not only fully recharged and full of energy, but also for you to get familiar with our culture and values while you are here. After all, you are bearers of truth and, upon returning home, you will share the truth about our country.”
The children shared their stories with the Deputy Prime Minister and why they wanted to come to Artek, and the details of the finals of the Bolshaya Peremena contest. Many of the finalists plan to study in Russia in the future, and build their professional plans around our country.
The finalists asked the Deputy Prime Minister about programmes for foreign students at Russian universities. Thus, Bolshaya Peremena participant from Syria ZahraTaj Raoud said that she learned Russian on her own in order to study at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia in Moscow when her time comes. At the age of 15, the girl has devoted more than seven years to studying the Russian language.
In turn, Russia is interested in providing talented youth from around the world an opportunity to study at Russian universities, Dmitry Chernyshenko said.
“We are interested in friendly countries having an opportunity to send their students to study in our country,” he pointed out. “Knowledge of the Russian language is critical for you, future students of Russia, if you want to be able to have unfettered access to knowledge and to study in our country.”
In addition, the participants came up with proposals to expand the list of countries with Russian schools with a particular focus on the school in Dushanbe named after Yury Gagarin. Many students noted the high level of teaching at this educational institution, and ranked it as one of the best ones. The participants also had questions about opening a business in Russia and working with students from abroad at Russian art schools.
The Bolshaya Peremena contest’s international track is held for the third consecutive year with Rossotrudnichestvo as its general partner. All phases of the contest’s anniversary season are brought together by a single theme dedicated to Family Year. The finalists will team up to perform tasks related to preservation of traditional family values and strengthening of the bond between generations.

“The most important thing about Bolshaya Peremena is that its participants are the co-sponsors of the contest,” Sergei Kiriyenko said answering the finalists’ questions. “This is how we created the children’s directorate and regional teams, created the advertising campaign and slogans, which all our participants now know. As a team, we will decide of the future of the contest, because the co-sponsorship principle will always come first. The goal of Bolshaya Peremena is for each of you to try yourselves in different fields and to decide on your future occupation.”
Dmitry Chernyshenko and Sergei Kiriyenko also discussed matters pertaining to organising the educational process and upbringing with the participants of an in-person module of the programme titled “Managing educational activities in an educational organisation.”
“Education of an all-round developed, patriotic and socially responsible person has become particularly important and is among the national goals set by the President,” the Deputy Prime Minister said. “As the executive power — the federal Government — we aim to do everything in our power to see the President’s vision through to completion. Educational advisers are at the centre of the efforts to form this system, because natural implementation of numerous federal projects and initiatives depends on them. Stay positive and believe in your success and victory. This is the way forward if we want to achieve the desired result. After all, when you believe in your own strength, you will be able to convince others of it, as well.”
During the meeting, the participants proposed expanding the Eaglets of Russia programme, organising the grant allocation system, discussed the training of teachers at universities, and much more. Within the framework of the Navigators of Childhood project Dmitry Chernyshenko proposed developing a mobile app for school director advisers in charge of education and interaction with children’s public associations.
In addition, within the framework of the “Movement of the First: New Opportunities” project session , the Deputy Prime Minister and the First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office familiarised themselves with the ideas for the development of the movement provided by the finalists of the Bolshaya Peremena contest for pupils of 5th-7th grades.
