The commission reviewed current issues and future development of trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan.
Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk and Prime Minister and Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Japarov co-chaired the 25th meeting of the Russian-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Humanitarian Cooperation. The event was held on 10 July at Siberian Federal University in Krasnoyarsk and was attended by representatives of the two countries’ business communities, relevant agencies and ministries.
The co-chairs discussed a broad range of issues, including interaction between the business communities, regions and development institutions of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, set out the key aspects of the implementation of joint projects, and reviewed the commission’s performance in 2023.
They highlighted economic and humanitarian cooperation and the further development of integration within the Eurasian Economic Union.
The sides reached agreements on promoting industrial cooperation, building energy facilities, developing transport routes, and implementing joint projects in agriculture. The commission is working to strengthen cooperation in e-commerce and to support the Russian companies’ contribution to creating and implementing automated information systems and digital solutions in the road traffic sector and municipal services.
Special attention was paid to cooperation in science and education, the construction of joint Russian-Kyrgyz schools in Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Language Ambassadors in the World and Russian Teacher Abroad projects, and the operations of Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.
As part of developing cooperation in culture, the sides agreed to hold Days of Kyrgyz Culture in the Russian Federation (Moscow, October 2024) dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Region, to promote the exchange of professionals in various cultural spheres, and to continue implementing a programme to support Russian theatres in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Following the meeting, the sides signed the final protocol of the 25th meeting of the Russian-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Humanitarian Cooperation, and an agreement between the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography (Rosreestr) and the State Agency for Land Resources, Cadastre, Geodesy and Cartography under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic on the provision of Russian technical assistance to establishing a system of state cadastral valuation in Kyrgyzstan.
