Olga Golodets, head of the interdepartmental working group for preparations for the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino, visited the main site of the future festivities at the Borodino Battlefield museum in the Moscow Region. She toured the renovated museum, met with participants of the traditional re-enactment of the Battle of Borodino, which will be held on September 2, and attended a rehearsal of the military-historical clubs dressed as Russian and French troops. Noting the good level of preparation for the anniversary, Ms Golodets expressed hope that the participants and guests will enjoy the ceremony.
During the working meeting held at the museum with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Culture and other authorities, the Deputy Prime Minister proposed adopting a programme for the museum’s development, which will significantly increase the flow of tourists after the celebrations are over. In particular, she believes that it is necessary to improve the infrastructure, offer new tours and build hotels for tourists in the area outside the Borodino Battlefield park.
