The Turkish president congratulated Dmitry Medvedev on his appointment as prime minister and wished him success in his new job.
During the call, Dmitry Medvedev and Abdullah Gul discussed the current status and the outlook for Russian-Turkish relations in an open and friendly manner. Both sides expressed deep satisfaction with the many years of effective cooperation at the highest level, which is an important factor in promoting cooperation between Russia and Turkey in the political, economic, trade and other areas and in implementing major joint projects. Prime Minister Medvedev stressed that the Russian government will continue to prioritise relations between the two countries.
President Gul noted the effectiveness of the Russian-Turkish coordinated effort on current issues of regional and global importance and expressed his hope that constructive dialogue on all issues of mutual interest will continue.
