Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk attended a meeting of the Eurasian Economic Commission Board, which was held on 21 January via videoconference.
The participants discussed the current tasks in the further development of Eurasian economic integration, highlighting the introduction of a product traceability mechanism in the EAEU customs territory and the registration of veterinary medicines and veterinary control.
They adopted decisions necessary for launching the implementation of the Agreement on the Mechanism of Traceability of Goods Imported into the Customs Territory of the EAEU, which came into effect in February 2021, and coordinated the procedure and timeframe for the implementation of a pilot project in this sphere. The project will apply to household refrigerators and freezers imported into the EAEU territory and will take place between 1 July 2022 and 31 March 2023.
The meeting participants also approved the rules for regulating the turnover of veterinary medicines in the EAEU customs territory, uniform registration procedures and requirements to their quality, effectiveness, safety and evaluation standards, as well as unified supervision rules and procedures for the turnover of veterinary medicines.
They decided to amend the Regulations on the Uniform Procedure of Veterinary Control (Supervision) at the Customs Border of the Customs Union and in the Customs Territory of the Eurasian Economic Union, or more precisely to reduce the number of inspections of imported products subject to veterinary control by applying a risk assessment mechanism and a mechanism of prior notice about the veterinary certificate of imported products subject to veterinary control issued by the concerned third country authorities. Overall, this will simplify veterinary control (supervision) procedures in the EAEU.
The participants also supported the initiative on the legal framework for the presentation of the best products of the EAEU member states chosen, in part, at the national quality competitions and exhibitions held during Eurasian economic forums.
The next Eurasian Economic Forum will be held at the initiative of the Kyrgyz Republic on the sidelines of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, which is scheduled to take place in Kyrgyzstan on 27 May 2022.
The participants also approved the agenda of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council session, which has been scheduled for 24-25 February 2022 in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The next meeting of the Eurasian Economic Commission Board will be held on 18 February 2022.
