Mikhail Mishustin: “The governors of every Russian region, in cooperation with the Health Ministry, must organise preparations for rendering medical care to counter the spread of the new coronavirus strain.”
Mikhail Mishustin’s opening remarks: Good afternoon, colleagues.
Today, we will discuss in detail the battle against the coronavirus. We see that the situation in the world is rapidly deteriorating, including in some American, Asian and European countries, primarily due to the spread of the latest strain of the virus. It is important to be ready for any course of development.
After the New Year holidays, many people returned from trips, including foreign travel. We need to consider this.
The list of measures to combat the virus remains the same. Timely testing plays an important role in this respect. Early diagnosis allows doctors to start treatment quicker and protect other people from being infected. We need to maintain a high testing level this year.
A large-scale anti-coronavirus vaccination campaign is being promoted throughout the country. There is every opportunity to ensure free vaccination in every Russian region, and the President is attentively monitoring this. After the prescribed time, people need to get another jab. This remains the best way of stopping the spread of the virus.
The consequences of the coronavirus can be very serious, especially for people with chronic diseases. Only the specialists can assess the harm done by the virus to a person’s health. This is why on 1 July, we launched a programme of thorough medical exams for those who have had COVID. This year, we allocated 8 billion roubles for this programme. People will be able to visit the doctors they need, receive treatment and recommendations and, if necessary, a rehabilitation voucher.
In-depth medical exams and rehabilitation are part of the programme that guarantees the free medical care the Government endorsed in late December.
The Health Ministry and the regional authorities have been instructed to work together to organise an information campaign to encourage people to use the programme for thorough post-COVID medical exams. Only doctors can reveal the consequences of the disease after referring people for tests. It is best not to delay a visit to an outpatient clinic to recover health.
