Meeting of the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Russian-Kyrgyz Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Humanitarian Cooperation: Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexei Overchuk and First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Artyom Novikov.
During the meeting the officials reviewed the priority goals for expanding trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan. They focused on cooperation in implementing the agreements reached during Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov’s visit to Russia on 24-25 February 2021.
Mr Overchuk confirmed Russia’s readiness to begin supplying the Sputnik V vaccine for the population of Kyrgyzstan. The republic has officially registered Sputnik V as the vaccine against the new coronavirus and is ready to include the Russian vaccine in its vaccination programme. It is also prepared to distribute the vaccine on its territory.
The co-chairs of the intergovernmental commission discussed the legal status of migrants form the Kyrgyz Republic in the Russian Federation and the issue of settling the legal status of foreign citizens living in Russia after violating the established parameters of their stay. The Russian official explained the procedure for formalising the legal status of foreign citizens until 15June 2021 without applying administrative measures or the need to leave the territory of the Russian Federation.
The officials also discussed cooperation in digitisation. They agreed to draft proposals and projects aimed at developing investment cooperation, economic integration, and cooperation in humanitarian and other areas.
In the next few weeks, the sides will prepare a list of issues for discussion at the scheduled meeting of the intergovernmental commission. Mr Overchuk confirmed Russia’s interest in continuing to support the Kyrgyz Republic in the spirit of strategic alliance and partnership.
