Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak had a meeting with Minister of Oil of the Republic of Iraq Ihsan Abdul Jabbar Ismail. During the meeting, the officials discussed prospects for Russian oil and gas projects in Iraq and the situation on the global oil markets.
Minister of Energy Nikolai Shulginov and LUKOIL President Vagit Alekperov also attended the meeting. The participants touched upon the situation on the global oil market and discussed bilateral cooperation prospects in detail. They also assessed cooperation within multilateral formats. Mr Novak noted fruitful Russian-Iraqi cooperation in the oil sector. “We maintain very proactive cooperation despite current restrictions and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic,” the Deputy Prime Minister said. The parties also reviewed the current projects of Russian oil companies and their prospects in the republic. “Our companies are actively implementing a number of successful projects in the republic. The accumulated investment of Russian oil and gas companies in Iraqi projects now exceeds $10 billion,” Mr Novak said.
