The Government has identified a list of diseases and complications, during the development or exacerbation of which due to the coronavirus infection, healthcare workers will receive a lump sum insurance payment.
The list of diseases and complications includes acute respiratory infections of the upper respiratory tract, viral pneumonia, toxic liver damage, sepsis and others.
An interim regulation on the investigation of these insured events has also been approved. It will remain in force until the end of 2020 and will allow for promptly paying compensation to doctors and other medical workers affected by the coronavirus.
Following the President’s executive order, employees of medical organisations – doctors, mid-level and junior medical personnel and ambulance drivers – who work directly with patients with a confirmed or suspected case of the coronavirus infection, are entitled to additional insurance guarantees if they become infected with COVID-19 at their workplace. If the coronavirus infection causes temporary disability, the lump sum insurance payment will amount to 68,811 roubles. If the disease leads to disability or death, the payment will be increased.
