Mikhail Mishustin: Mr Jeenbekov, let me cordially welcome you to the House of the Government of the Russian Federation. I am happy to meet you here!
Today you are meeting with President Vladimir Putin, and later in the evening you will take part in the opening ceremony of the Cross Year of Russia and Kyrgyzstan at the Kremlin. We are also looking forward to seeing you on 9 May at the parade marking the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Taking this opportunity, I would ask you to convey my regards to my colleague, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mr Abylgaziev. We met on 31 January in Almaty at the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
I would like to emphasise that Russian-Kyrgyzstani relations are strategic and allied in nature, and our trade, economic and investment cooperation is developing dynamically. We also work together at the Eurasian Economic Council.
I am confident that the Cross Year of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, which includes more than 200 joint events, will be a landmark experience that will give a new impetus to strengthening our bilateral cooperation.
A very important role here is played by interregional dialogue. On 28 March 2019, a Russian-Kyrgyzstani Interregional Conference with the participation of both presidents was held in Bishkek. The next conference will be held in Yekaterinburg in the second half of this year. In general, the Government of the Russian Federation is interested in the most constructive cooperation with our Kyrgyzstani colleagues.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov: Mr Mishustin, I am very happy to see you. Let me congratulate you on your appointment as Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
Vladimir Putin has shown great confidence in you. And the State Duma supported you as well. This is recognition that you have vast experience and high professionalism in public administration. I am sure that all your qualities will ensure stable development for Russia.
Over the past two years, as you noted correctly, Russian-Kyrgyzstani relations have intensified noticeably: we have an active dialogue at all levels, especially after the state visit of Vladimir Putin to the Kyrgyz Republic in March 2018. That visit was very successful. Agreements worth more than $6 billion were signed then. There, in Bishkek, the 8th Interregional Conference was held. We have held many forums, and this has given practical effect.
We have great hopes for the 9th Interregional Conference to be held in Yekaterinburg. I am sure that this forum will strengthen the relationship between our businesses and our regional officials.
After our meeting, I will meet with Vladimir Putin, and I am very happy that he will personally take part in the opening of this historical event – we will launch the cultural Cross Year of Russia and Kyrgyzstan today. As you noted, 200 joint events are planned to be held. For our part, we will do our best to ensure that these 200 events are carried out. Of course, this is in the interests of our country, the Kyrgyz Republic, and we will do our best.
Mr Putin is receptive to our problems. He renders assistance to us on practically all matters.
I hope you also know Kyrgyzstan, as you worked together with our tax authorities. And we look forward to cooperating with you. I would ask you to support our Prime Minister; he told me how you met in Almaty. You supported him there. He was very happy about this.
Our main concern now is the border with both Kazakhstan and China. There are no railways. We have access only to Russia. And our economic situation is far from ideal as well; we are working hard, but these two factors greatly impede our development.
