Excerpts from the transcript:
Dmitry Medvedev: Ms Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, friends, comrades, let me cordially welcome you to Moscow.
This is your first visit to our country as the Chairperson of the National Assembly of Vietnam. I hope it will be interesting. You have a full agenda. You have visited Kazan and met with Ms Valentina Matviyenko. You will also have a meeting with the leadership of the lower house of parliament.
I am happy to be meeting with you as well. I recall our meeting in Hanoi in November 2018. Let me take this opportunity to ask you to pass along greetings and best regards to President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong and to my colleague Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Today, we have an opportunity to discuss certain issues of interparliamentary dialogue in addition to your discussions of these matters with your colleagues. And, of course, we can talk about the development of Russian-Vietnamese cooperation as a whole, which is certainly strategic in nature and very important for our countries.
Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan (via interpreter): Mr Prime Minister, Comrade Medvedev, I am very glad to have the opportunity to make an official visit to the Russian Federation and meet with you, a good friend of the Vietnamese people. I also would like to convey greetings and best wishes on behalf of our General Secretary and President, Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong, and Prime Minister, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Vietnam highly values the comprehensive strategic partnership with the Russian Federation. We regard relations with Russia as a very important priority in our foreign policy.
Today, I addressed the Federation Council and reaffirmed in my remarks our consistent course for promoting relations with Russia. During my talks with Ms Matviyenko, we agreed that our parliaments will continue making a contribution to the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Russia.
