Dmitry Medvedev: Mr General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, distinguished Vietnamese guests, please accept my heartfelt greetings. Welcome to Moscow.
I am delighted that we are having this meeting. Our contacts are regular. You visit Russia and we visit Vietnam. We cherish the warm memories of your hospitable country.
You are on a visit with a full-scale agenda. This makes us very happy. Tomorrow when you are in Sochi, you will have a meeting with President Putin. On 7 September you are visiting the Kaluga Region, which is also a symbol of our cooperation.
Our relations are on the rise. Our mutual trade is growing; political contacts are expanding, including between the Communist Party of Vietnam and United Russia.
I would like to take this opportunity and pass my kind regards to the President of Vietnam Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
This is a great opportunity to exchange our views on various aspects of cooperation between Russia and Vietnam.

I would like to congratulate the Russian Federation on the great success of the recent World Cup. This was one of the most successful and exciting championships. Millions of spectators all over the world were greatly impressed with the championship. I also want to congratulate you on the success of the Russian national football team.
I strongly believe that under your leadership, the Government of the Russian Federation can successfully fulfill the Strategy of Socio-Economic Development up to 2030.
Despite many challenges and difficulties over the past years, the Russian Federation succeeded in maintaining political and social stability, economic recovery together with providing social protection to the people. It has also been increasingly proactive on the international arena in addressing various global matters.
I am very glad to have the opportunity to meet with you, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the United Russia party. I would like to discuss opportunities concerning bilateral cooperation with Russia.
