The Government has reported on the implementation of Presidential Instruction No. Pr-541 of March 17, 2013 (Clause 2) on approving a package of measures to mark Russian Language Day for the period 2013-2016.
The Government announced that the package of measures had been drafted by the Ministry of Education and Science together with the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Regional Development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation, and executive agencies in Russian entities.
Educational events will be held, including international and nationwide Olympiads in Russian, nationwide lessons and master classes; events to support, develop and promote the Russian language, including festivals, competitions, research and practical conferences; events to preserve and promote the Russian language abroad, including Russian Language Days held at Russian Centres of Science and Culture, and encouraging foreign youth to learn Russian.
The package of measures has been approved by the Government and will be implemented by the federal executive agencies concerned, executive agencies in Russian entities and educational institutions. The funding has been provided.
The Ministry of Education and Science is responsible for implementing the measures.
